QUESTIONS and ANSWERS I take an aspirin every day. Does this matter? You must tell your surgeon about aspirin. It could be dangerous to have an operation while taking aspirin. Aspirin in your blood can cause serious bleeding during the operation or afterwards. Sometimes you will be advised to give up taking aspirin for some time before the operation but sometimes you need the asprin and the operating team must be warned that you are taking it. WHY does Dalia ask so many questions about my lifestyle? What does it matter to her what religion I am? Some surgical threads and grafts are made from animal products. Dalia would not wish to put into your body anything related to an animal forbidden by your religion, certainly not without asking you beforehand. Some operations involve taking muscle as a graft. If she knows what sport or other activities you do, she may be able to avoid taking the muscles you use for your sport. WHEN can I go ski -ing? Ask Dalia when you are discussing the operation. Strong exercise within 3 weeks of an operation might affect the wound. MY insurance company is paying the bill. Why should I have to pay more? If you come to Dalia you agree to pay her fees, not just whatever your insurance company is willing to pay. Whether your insurance company will pay depends on your contract with them and that is nothing to do with Dalia. MY friend recommended Dalia. WILL my friend find out that I have actually been to see Dalia? She will not find out from us! We observe full medical confidentiality, even between members of the same family. Even when a patient says she has been recommended by someone we do not confirm that the someone has ever seen Dalia. |
